Tournament Rules
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Organizer
BDS eSport Ltd, La Valette succursale de Meyrin, a Swiss company, based in Chemin de Joinville 26, 1216 Cointrin, Switzerland (the “Organizer”) organizes, on the video game “Rocket League”, classified PEGI 3 (the “Video Game”) and published by Psyonix LLC (“Psyonix”):(i) A tournament entitled “TakeTheThrone Open Qualifier” on 2 and 3 November 2024 (the “Tournament”); and
(ii) A Main Event from 23 November at the TakeTheThrone Invitational (“Main Event”). THIS TOURNAMENT IS NOT ADMINISTERED BY PSYONIX LLC.
1.2 Official Rulebook
These rules, Psyonix’s Terms of Use, the Epic Games Privacy Policy, Psyonix’s End User License Agreement and the Rocket League Code of Conduct (the “Official Rulebook”) establish the rules of tournament play, including rules governing without limitation, player eligibility, conditions of residence, tournament structure, code of conduct, etc. The Official Rulebook applies to all individuals participating in the Tournament, including but not limited to players (“Players”), substitutes, teams (“Teams”), coaches, and managers (hereinafter referred to as the “Participants”). The Participants fully acknowledge and agree to the following:(i) Respect all of the provisions of the Official Rulebook;
(ii) The Organizer may update, amend, or supplement the Official Rulebook from time to time; and
(iii) The Organizer has the final say on the interpretation of the Official Rules.
No purchase of any kind is required by the Organizer to participate in the Tournament. No purchase of any kind will increase the chances of winning the Tournament. The chances of winning the Tournament are entirely dependent on the skill, talent and individual expertise of each Player.
2. CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY
2.1 Generalities
Participation in the Tournament is open to any Team that meets the conditions of eligibility outlined below. Employees, officers, directors, agents, and representatives of Psyonix (including the legal, promotion, and advertising agencies of Psyonix) or the Organizer and their immediate family members (defined as spouse, mother, father, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, grandparents and in-laws, regardless of where they live) and those living in their household (whether or not related), and each person or entity connected with the production or administration of the Tournament, and each parent company, affiliate, subsidiary, agent and representative of Psyonix or the Organizer are not eligible to participate or win. Players must have the age of majority in their country and at least 16 years old before the first day of the Tournament to participate. Players under 16 years old are not allowed to participate in the Tournament. To participate in the Tournament, minor Players must provide the Organizer with a parental consent form duly completed and signed by their legal representatives. Minor Players must send this parental consent form to the Organizer at the following address: tournois@takethethrone.com, accompanied by official documents proving the identity of legal representatives and of the minor Player. Players may only participate in the Tournament so long as their participation does not violate applicable local laws. Players are responsible for ensuring that their participation is not in violation with the laws of the jurisdiction in which they are a resident, and Players must take all steps necessary to ensure such compliance. Players can only play in one (1) Team for the entire duration of the Tournament. The Organizer reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to verify Players’ eligibility requirements by any reasonable means and at any step of the Tournament. In the event a Player has been deemed ineligible to participate, this Player will be automatically disqualified from the Tournament. The Organizer reserves the right to replace any such disqualified Player with any other Players of their choice.2.2 Players’ Names
All Team and individual Player names must follow the Article 10 of the Code of Conduct. The Organizer and the Tournament Administrators each may restrict or change Player tags or screen names for any reason. The name used by a Player may not include or make use of the terms Rocket League®, Psyonix, or any other trademark, trade name, or logo owned by or licensed to Psyonix. The name used by a Player cannot be an impersonation of another Team, player, streamer, celebrity, government official, Psyonix or Organizer employee, or any other person or entity. Prior to the start of the Tournament, the Organizer and/or Tournament Administrators will work directly with all Players to determine a suitable display name for use in connection with the Tournament. Players must use this agreed upon identifier for the duration of the Tournament. The Organizer and/or Tournament Administrators each reserves the right to prohibit or restrict the use of any in-game item during the Tournament (including, without limitation, prohibiting the use of any third party copyrighted materials in a manner that indicates, suggests, or could be interpreted as representing association or affiliation with such third party). Player names cannot contain:(i) Vulgarities or obscenities; or
(ii) Derivatives of products or services leading to confusion.
Team names must not be changed during the Tournament without the prior written approval of the Organizer.
2.3 Good Standing
Players must be in good standing with respect to the Epic Account, Steam, Microsoft Account, Nintendo Account, or PlayStation Network ID (each, a “Tournament Account”) used by such Players in connection with the Tournament, with no undisclosed violations. This means that, without limitation, a Player’s Tournament Account (a) must be registered in such Player’s name, and cannot have been previously purchased, gifted, or otherwise transferred from another Player; and (b) must have the requisite access levels to the Epic Games Store, STeam, Xbox Live, Nintendo Network, or the PlayStation Network, as applicable. Players / Teams must also be free of or served fully any suspensions or other sanctions imposed in connection with a previous violation of any official Psyonix rules.2.4 Team Rosters
2.4.1 Team Captains
Each Team must declare one member of their roster to be the “Team Captain” who represents the Team for all official decisions and serves as the main point of contact for the Team; provided, that a Team may designate its manager or coach (as applicable) as the main point of contact for the Team.2.4.2 Rosters
2.4.2.1 Swiss-based OrganizationsNotwithstanding any provisions in the following article 2.4.2.2, any Team fielded by a Swissbased organization shall be exempt from the restrictions set forth in the said article 2.4.2.2 below (“Exemption”).
This Exemption ensures that the Swiss-based organization's Team may participate without limitations imposed by the article 2.4.2.2.
This Exemption applies solely to Swiss-based organizations recognized by the Swiss Esports Federation (SESF) or considered as Swiss by the Organizer.
Swiss-based organisation can enter up to two (2) rosters for the Tournament.
2.4.2.2 Other Organizations / Teams
Teams which are not part of a Swiss-based organization, as per article 2.4.2.1 above, have to field one (1) active player who is a Swiss citizen or is Swiss resident (B or C permit).
2.4.2.3 Roster obligations
Teams may only use Players who are on their roster for a match. Upon registering for the Tournament, rosters must have at least three (3) Players, but no more than four (4) (i.e., three starting Players and one substitute who may be used as an alternate only for online matches). Rosters may also include a manager and/or a coach who do not play in Tournament matches. An individual may not simultaneously be part of more than one roster, at a time, including coaches and managers.
The Team’s roster cannot be changed during the Tournament without the prior approval of the Organizer. Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the event that the Team is not able to have three (3) players in a particular match of the Tournament due to an event beyond the control of the Team as determined in the sole discretion of the Organizer (e.g.: medical reason), the Team can exceptionally request to play with their coach or manager.
All Rosters will be deemed locked at the close of the Tournament registration process set out in Section 5.
2.4.3 Transfers
Any transfer of a Player, a substitute, a coach or a manager from a Team to another Team or any addition of a Player, a substitute, or a coach to a Team is considered as a transfer. At the start of the Tournament and until the end of the Tournament, the Team shall not operate any transfer without the prior written approval of the Organizer. During the period of the Tournament, any transfer of a player, a substitute, or a coach, in a Team, without the approval of the Organizer, will be deemed refused.2.4.4 Regional Requirement
Team rosters for each match must maintain, at all times, all of their Players on its roster that are residents of “Europe”, defined exhaustively as including the European Union, Andorra, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Monaco, Norway, Switzerland, Ukraine (excluding the regions of Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk) and the United Kingdom.Players must prove lawful residency in the eligible territory with a valid identification document issued by a government authority of the jurisdiction in the territory or have a valid residency visa (i.e., work visa, athlete visa, student visa). For the avoidance of doubt, a tourist visa does not satisfy the residency requirement.
2.5 Player Equipment
Players must have a valid Video Game copy on their device, a valid game account, a Discord account (https://discordapp.com/), a Toornament account (https://toornament.com/) and an internet connection to participate in the Tournament.All Players agree to perform all necessary tests to ensure that their equipment is working properly before the Tournament begins. All Players agree that their equipment is configured with a version of the video game that is legal or legally acquired and that is fully up to date. All Players agree that their accessories contain no parts or software that could adversely affect the proceedings of the Tournament.
For matches requiring the physical presence of Players, Players are required to bring their own keyboards, mice, headsets, and controllers. The Organizer is responsible for providing the rest of the gaming equipment necessary for participating in the Tournament. All standard controllers, including mouse and keyboard, are legal. Macro functions (e.g., turbo buttons) are not permitted. Note that wireless controllers are not permitted at any in-person Tournament events. At any in-person Tournament event, all controllers are subject to approval from Psyonix and/or the Tournament Administrators.
For security reasons, the Organizer may forbid the use of certain materials, software or accessories, a list of which will be communicated to the player or players by the day of the Tournament at the latest.
2.6 Restrictions
The Organizer reserves the right to refuse the registration of any player who is or has ever been banned or sanctioned in any way or for any reason by the Organizer of a previous Tournament or by any other third-party organizer.3. TOURNAMENT ADMINISTRATORS
The Organizer appoints administrators responsible for managing the Tournament (the “Administrators”).The Organizer and the Administrators are the sole authorities empowered to take any measures necessary for the good conduct of the Tournament, including modifying the format, adapting the Code of Conduct, or imposing disciplinary sanctions on Players who have violated the Code of Conduct or engaged in harmful behaviour towards other Players, the Organizer, the Administrators, or third parties in general.
Decisions made by the Organizer or the Administrators during the tournament are immediately enforceable and binding on Players.
4. TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The format is the following: The Tournament (4.1), followed by the Main Event (4.2), as described below.4.1 The Tournament
The Organizer can organize the Tournament in one or two online qualifiers depending on the number of Teams registered to the Tournament.4.1.1 The Tournament format with one online qualifier
4.1.1.1 Date and Schedule of Online QualifierThe Qualifier take place on the following date:
November 2 and 3, 2024 at 6PM CET time*
*Exact schedules will be communicated later by the Organizer to Players through any appropriate means (Discord, Tournament description on Toornament, etc.).
4.1.1.2 Check-in
Unless otherwise specified on the Tournament’s Discord server, Players of Online Qualifier must perform a check-in via Toornament during the time slot indicated by the Organizer. If the check-in is not completed, Players will not be able to play in their respective Online Qualifier.
4.1.1.3 Format
The number of maximum Teams authorized to register to the Online Qualifier is indicated on the TakeTheThrone page on Toornament. The Organizer reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to increase the number of maximum Players authorized to register and participate in the Online Qualifier.
All Online Qualifier matches are played in a single-elimination format, and as Best-of-5 series, except for the Semi-finals in Best-of-7 series and The Final in Best-of-7 series. Teams participating in the Online Qualifier are seeded by the Organizer at its own discretion. The two finalist Teams of the Online Qualifier will receive their invitation for the Main Event. In the event that a Team cannot participate in the Main Event for any reason, the Organizer will have the option to replace that Team with any other Team, with priority given to Teams that have progressed the furthest in the Online Qualifier (starting with those that reached the Semifinals).
4.1.2 The Tournament in two Online Qualifiers
4.1.2.1 Dates and Schedule of Online Qualifiers The Qualifier take place on the following date:(i) Qualifier #1: November 2 and 3, 2024 at 6PM CET time*
(ii) Qualifier #2: November 9 and 10, 2024 at 6PM CET time*
Exact schedules will be communicated later by the Organizer to Players through any appropriate means (Discord, Tournament description on Toornament, etc.).
4.1.2.2 Check-in
Unless otherwise specified on the Tournament’s Discord server, Players of Online Qualifier must perform a check-in via Toornament during the time slot indicated by the Organizer. If the check-in is not completed, Players will not be able to play in their respective Online Qualifier.
4.1.2.3 Format
The number of maximum Teams authorized to register per Qualifier is indicated on the TakeTheThrone page on Toornament. The Organizer reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to increase the number of maximum players authorized to register and participate in the Online Qualifier.
The winning Team of the Online Qualifier #1 cannot participate to the Online Qualifier #2. All Online Qualifier matches are played in a single-elimination format, and as Best-of-5 series, except for the Semifinals in Best-of-7 series and the Final in Best-of-7 series. Teams participating in the Qualifier are seeded by the Organizer at its own discretion. The winning Team of each Online Qualifier will receive their invitation for the Main Event. In the event that a Team cannot participate in the Main Event for any reason, the Organizer will have the option to replace that Team with any other Team, with priority given to Teams that have progressed the furthest in the Online Qualifiers (starting with those that reached the finals).
4.2 The Main Event
The main event will take place in the “Bâtiment des Forces Motrices”, Place des Volontaires 2, 1204 Genève, on November 23, 2024.4.2.1 Teams
Eight (8) Teams* are authorized to participate in the Main Event:(i) The two (2) Teams qualified during the Tournament; and
(ii) Six (6) Teams invited by the Organizer.
*Teams associated to a legal entity are only authorized to participate in the Playoffs as long as they have signed a Team Participation Agreement with the Organizer.
Substitutes are not authorized to participate in the Main Event as it is required the physical presence of the Players.
4.2.2 Check-in
Players must follow the check-in instructions communicated by the Organizer at a later time.4.2.3 Format
All Playoffs matches are played in a single-elimination format:(i) Quarterfinals are played in Best-of-5;
(ii) Semifinals are played in Best-of-7; and
(iii) Final is played in Best-of-7.
4.2.4 Seeding
Teams will be seeded by the results they achieved in Tournament5. REGISTRATION TO THE TOURNAMENT
To register and participate in the Tournament, each Player must sign up on the Toornament website (https://www.toornament.com/) and meet the eligibility conditions outlined in the Official Rulebook.The following information will be requested for registration:
(i) Player’s name
(ii) Player’s username
(iii) Player’s country of residence
(iv) Player’s Discord username
(v) Player’s email address
(vi) Player’s age
The Organizer reserves the right to verify, by any means necessary, the authenticity of the information provided about the players in order to validate their participation in the Tournament, in particular their age, their identity and the ownership of their Video Game account. As the number of Players who can register to the Tournament is limited, registration requests will be accepted by the Organizer depending on Player in-game ranking and Team worldwide ranking.
In the event a Player provides inaccurate information, the Organizer can either ask the Player to modify the information provided or disqualify the Player and cancel his/her participation in the Tournament for non-compliance with the conditions of eligibility.
6. GAME SETTINGS
6.1 General Settings
6.1.1 Settings
All matches will be played following the parameters described below:(i) Default Arena: DFH Stadium
(ii) Team Size: 3v3
(iii) Bot Difficulty: No Bots
(iv) Mutators: None
(v) Match Time: 5 Minutes
(vi) Joinable By: Name/Password
(vii) Platform: Epic Games Store, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Steam, or Xbox
(viii) Game type: Esport format
The Organizer will decide how lobbies will be created, and the information regarding the matter will be communicated to the Teams through any means, especially through the Tournament’s Toornament page.
6.1.2 Map rotation
In the Open Qualifier, all Games are played on DFH Stadium. In all other stages of the Tournament, the map rotation will be chosen from the standard arenas, chosen by Tournament Administrators at their sole discretion. For broadcasted Matches, Teams may request to avoid an arena due to performance issues and are required to submit a detailed request to Tournament Administrators no less than 24-hours prior to the Match start time. The Tournament Administrators reserve the right to reject for any reason, in their sole discretion, any request made by Teams to avoid an arena.6.1.3 Match starts
Both Teams must be ready and complete, at their stations, at least ten (10) minutes before the start time of the match (as per the schedules provided by the Organizer). Tournament Administrators will specify which Team is blue and which Team is orange. In the Open Qualifier, Teams will be instructed how to host the Match. In all other stages of the Tournament, a Tournament Administrator will host the Match.Players can contact Tournament Administrators to help them create a lobby. In Open Qualifiers Matches, Players may not join their designated side until three Players from each Team have joined the Game. In Main Event Matches, Players may not join their designated side until instructed by a Tournament Administrator.
6.2 Match Results / Disputes
During the Open Qualifier stage, after a Match is completed, the winning Team must submit the Match result to Tournament Administrators in a designated chatroom. The losing Team must also confirm the Match result. Taking a screenshot of the results screen or saving the replay file of the Match is required in case of disputed results. Teams have ten (10) minutes after a Match ends to dispute the result. If a Team disputes a Match claiming a win and submits proof of its claim, the other Team must submit proof within ten (10) minutes of its claim to avoid an automatic forfeit of the Match. Any Teams or Players found to have submitted false or doctored results will be subject to disciplinary sanctions as further described in Article 11.6.3 No bugs or glitches allowed
Players shall not use any bugs or glitches known by the esports community, whether or not specifically mentioned in the Official Rulebook.In the event that the Organizer or Administrators determine that a Player voluntarily used a bug and/or a glitch which gave an unfair advantage, the Organizer and Administrators may decide to either return to the state of the game before the bug or glitch occurred (if possible), or inflict a disciplinary sanction, particularly in cases where such usage is deliberate. The Organizer and the Administrators are the sole authority to determine the intentional nature of the bug and/or glitch usage.
6.4 Match Disruptions
6.4.1 Disconnects
6.4.1.1 Online QualifiersIf a disconnect occurs in the Online Qualifier, the shorthanded Team must continue to play out the single game within the match series. The disconnected Player may rejoin during the game that the disconnect occurred in or in between games of a match series but may not join in the middle of subsequent games in the series. After a disconnect, if the Player cannot rejoin during the same game, the Player will have five minutes to rejoin before the next game of the match series begins. If the disconnected Player is unable to join the game prior to the next game in the series, the Player’s Team may substitute another Player from their roster (subject to the Substitution rules set forth in Article 2.4.2.) if this is the first disconnect for the Team during Online matches.
6.4.1.2 All Other Stages
If a disconnect occurs during any stage of the Tournament, except for the Online Qualifiers, the shorthanded Team must immediately notify the Tournament Administrators in the designated chatroom. The Tournament Administrators may pause the game once the disconnect notification has been received, at their sole discretion. For spectated / broadcasted matches, if Tournament Administrators identify that a Player has disconnected without being notified, they may pause a match to allow the Player to reconnect.
Once the game has been paused, the disconnected Player will have eight (8) minutes to rejoin before the game resumes. In the event of multiple pauses for disconnections, the total time will be counted towards the eight (8) minutes of reconnection time. If the Player cannot rejoin within that time, the shorthanded Team will forfeit the single game within the match series. If the Player does not rejoin during the same game in which they disconnected, the Player will have three (3) additional minutes following the game to rejoin before the next game of the match series begins. The disconnected Player may only rejoin during the game in which the disconnect occurred in or in between games of a match series but may not join in the middle of subsequent games in the series. If the disconnected Player is unable to join the game prior to the next game in the series, the Player’s Team must substitute another Player from their roster (subject to the Substitution rules set forth in Article 2.4.2.) or forfeit the match.
Once the disconnected Player rejoins the game or the allotted rejoin time has expired, the Teams have thirty (30) seconds to confirm with Tournament Administrators that each Team is ready to unpause. Once each Team has confirmed its readiness, the game will resume from a neutral kick-off or from continuation of play as determined by the Tournament Administrators. If a Team cannot field a full team of three (3) Players to continue play, it will forfeit the game. If a Team cannot field a full team of three (3) Players in the subsequent eight minutes of game forfeiture, they will forfeit the match.
6.4.2 Stoppage of Play
Tournament Administrators may pause a game or match at any time and for any reason. In the event of a stoppage of play, Players must remain at their devices and may not communicate with other Players until the game or match is resumed. Each Team is allowed a maximum of one pause request per match.6.4.3 Timeouts
For any Best-of-Seven match, Teams may request one (1) timeout (each, a “Timeout”) between games during such match (as applicable).Each Timeout will last for two (2) minutes. A Team must notify a Tournament Administrator immediately after the conclusion of a game if it elects to use a Timeout. Tournament Administrators reserve the right to deny a Team a Timeout if such Team fails to make its election in accordance with the deadlines set forth in this Section. At the conclusion of the Timeout, Tournament Administrators will confirm that each Team is ready to continue the series before gameplay can resume.
For clarity, Timeouts cannot be used in Online Qualifiers or during gameplay.
6.4.4 Restarts
Tournament Administrators may order a game or match restart due to exceptional circumstances, such as if a bug significantly affects a Player’s ability to play or the game or match is disrupted by a Force Majeure or other event.6.5 Communication with third-party
Teams will communicate with their Coaches, opponents, and Tournament Administrators (as applicable) in a designated chatroom during all online stages of the Tournament. For live events, once a Match has officially begun, communication with anyone not designated as playing within the current Match (including, without limitation, Coaches) is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate disqualification of the Player(s) or Team. Psyonix and/or Tournament Administrators will notify Players of the designated chatroom prior to the start of each stage of the Tournament.6.6 Match Records and Broadcasts
Only the Organizer is authorized to record and broadcast the Tournament worldwide, on the internet, television, or any other means of communication, known or unknown. Upon written request and approval by the Organizer (email is sufficient), a Player shall be permitted to stream live coverage of their gameplay only in the Online Qualifiers through an online streaming platform (e.g., Twitch, YouTube, etc.), with respect to any restrictions or guidelines indicated by the Organizer. Teams are prohibited to record and stream the Playoffs without the prior written approval of the Organizer.When granted the right to stream live coverage of the Tournament by the Organizer, Teams and Players shall respect the following rules:
(i) Teams cannot stream on a Player’s channel, except as otherwise permitted by the Organizer
(ii) Teams and Players cannot stream Tournament Matches that they are not playing in
(iii) Teams and Players shall not monetize outside of the streaming platform (e.g., Pre-rolls, ads, etc.)
(iv) Teams shall use the clean feed provided by the Organizer
(v) Players shall add Tournament sponsors logos to their live stream footage and place them as indicated by the Organizer
(vi) Teams and Players shall not alter, blur or cover Tournament sponsor logos/placements
(vii) Teams and Players can start streaming once the previous match is finished or 15 minutes before their match if it is the first match of the day; Teams can stream for 15 minutes postgame (defined as being 15 minutes from game finish screen’s appearance)
(viii) Teams and Players shall provide the Organizer with a reporting of the metrics related to such broadcast within three (3) days (e.g.: unique viewers, concurrent viewers by minute, peak concurrent viewers, hours viewed, duration of the broadcast)
(ix) Teams and Players shall have the right to invite guests. Co-streaming on-air talents need approval by the Organizer
(x) Teams and Players cannot show their sponsors during the broadcast. The Organizer may allow Teams and Players to show their sponsors during the 15 minutes pre- and postgame portions if they so choose. These sponsors must be vetted, and Teams and Players cannot show them during the match itself
(xi) All portions of the broadcast from Teams and Players, both live and archived, must be readily available to non-paying viewers
The Organizer reserves the right to add or modify the restrictions regarding the streaming of the Tournament at any time. Players will be informed of any changes on the Tournament’s Discord server or through other means.
6.7 Forfeit
In the event that a Player is unable to participate in a match for any reason, that Player will be considered forfeiting the match. If the Team cannot replace the Player in accordance with the Official Rulebook, the Team will be considered forfeiting the match in question. Teams may not voluntarily forfeit a Match without prior authorization from Tournament Administrators. Notwithstanding the foregoing, even with such authorization, such Teams will be subject to disciplinary sanctions as further described in Section 11.7. RULES CHANGES
The Organizer reserves the right to modify the Official Rulebook at any time, without any obligation to follow a specific process beforehand, without notice and without consequences. The Organizer will contact the Players via all the usual communication channels, including by Discord or e-mail, to inform them of any modifications to the Tournament format or in case of a change to the times of any matches.8. TRAVELS & ACCOMMODATION
8.1 Travel
8.1.1 Travel Provision
The Tournament Organizer shall arrange and provide travel for all participating teams for the duration of the tournament.Minor Players must be accompanied by their legal guardian, or if authorized as per their parental consent form by another adult to participate in in-person matches.
8.1.2 Expenses
The expenses incurred by the 3 Players of the Team and their coach (if any) for their travel will be supported by the Organizer, up to a maximum aggregate amount of 1.200 Euros cumulatively among the three (3) Players of the Team and their coach (if any). This amount will be split between the number of eligible persons (up to 400€ per person if only 3 Players or up to 300€ per person for 3 Players and 1 coach). Only expenses directly related to the presence of the three (3) Players and their coach (if any) will be covered. All other expenses will be the sole responsibility of the Players or of their potential accompanying persons. The travel expenses of potential accompanying persons (managers, family, etc.) are not covered by the Organizer.Any additional costs incurred by the qualified Players and their possible companions (travel, meals, etc.) are their sole responsibility.
8.1.3 Responsibilities of the Team
Team and/or Players are entirely responsible for their behaviour, and the Organizer cannot be held responsible for direct or indirect damage resulting from misconduct attributed to a Team or a Player (including damage to the hotel or during their journey).8.2 Accommodation
8.2.1 Accommodation Provision
The Tournament Organizer shall arrange and provide suitable accommodation for all participating teams for the duration of the tournament.8.2.1.1 Hotel
Each team shall be provided with an adequate number of rooms, with a maximum of two (2) players per room unless otherwise agreed upon in writing. Separate rooms shall be provided for coaching staff, management, and other team officials.
The accommodation shall be provided starting from 22 November 2024, which shall be at least one (1) day prior to the commencement of the tournament, until one (1) day after the team's elimination from or conclusion of the tournament, unless otherwise agreed by both parties.
8.2.1.2 Meals
The accommodation must offer appropriate meals (including lunch, and dinner. Special dietary requests must be accommodated upon prior notification.
8.2.2 Expenses
The cost of accommodation, including meals and reasonable on-site amenities, shall be covered by the Tournament Organizer. Additional expenses incurred by the Team members, such as room service, laundry, or personal purchases, shall be the responsibility of the individuals or their respective Teams.8.2.3 Responsibilities of the Team
Teams are expected to respect the rules of the accommodation provider, maintain cleanliness, and behave in a manner that reflects positively on the Main Event. Any damage caused to the accommodation facilities by Team members may result in financial liability for the Team or Player.9. ENDOWMENTS
The Main Event endowments of EUR 10,000 is split in accordance with the final ranking of each Team participating in the Playoffs:Winner: EUR 10,000
The endowments amount will be paid in full by the Organizer to the Team winning the Main Event.
In the case of a Team wins endowments but don’t represent any Organisation, the endowments amount will be paid directly to the Players.
9.1 Distribution to a legal entity
In the event that the legal representative is a legal entity, then the latter must issue an invoice for an amount corresponding to endowments won by the applicable Team, plus the value-added tax (VAT) in force on the day of its issue, if applicable. The Organizer will pay the corresponding invoice no later than sixty (60) days from the date of issue of said invoice. The Organizer will provide the legal representative with the necessary information to prepare the invoice via email or other means after the Tournament.9.2 Distribution to an individual
In the event that the legal representative is a natural person, payment will be made within seven (7) days of receipt of all the information necessary to make the payment. The payment will be made by the Organizer in compliance with the legal and regulatory provisions in force, after deduction of all applicable taxes and duties, including any withholding taxes in the event that the legal representative is domiciled outside of France.10. CODE OF CONDUCT
10.1 Code of Conduct
In order to provide a rewarding tournament experience for all, the Organizer requires Players to conduct themselves in a way that is at all times consistent with (a) the Code of Conduct and (b) the general principles of personal integrity, honesty, good sportsmanship, and sound health and safety.Players must be respectful of other Players, Tournament Administrators, the Organizer, spectators and sponsors (as applicable).
Players shall not behave in a manner (a) which violates these Rules, (b) which is disruptive, unsafe or destructive, or (c) which is otherwise harmful to the enjoyment of Rocket League by other users as intended by Psyonix (as decided by Psyonix). In particular, Players shall not engage in harassing or disrespectful conduct, use of abusive or offensive language, Video Game sabotage, spamming, social engineering, scamming, or any unlawful activity. By participating in the Tournament, each Player agrees to respect the relevant laws and rules as well as the Code of Conduct and the various stipulations and conditions of the Official Rulebook.
This Code of Conduct is intended to provide a non-exhaustive list of the various behaviours that are prohibited or dishonest, or that could lead to unfair advantages. The Organizer reserves the right to modify these rules of conduct at any time, as well as to take any appropriate disciplinary steps in the case of actions that go against the code of conduct, whether said action is specifically mentioned in the list below or not.
The following behaviours can lead to disciplinary sanctions:
(i) Disobeying or showing noticeable or disruptive dissent at the reasonable instructions or requests of the Organizer or Tournament personnel
(ii) Arriving late for the Tournament
(iii) Poor sportsmanship
(iv) Choosing a username or broadcasting content that implies a false association with the Organizer, Psyonix, or that is vulgar, obscene, offensive, immoral, illicit or harmful to a third party
(v) Harassment, following, threatening, intimidation, screaming, swearing or other harmful behaviour towards other Players or towards the Organizer
(vi) Physical or cyber violence
(vii) Collusion (e.g., any agreement between two or more Teams or Players on different Teams to predetermine the outcome of a Game or Match), Match fixing, bribing a referee or Match official, or any other unfair or illegal action or agreement to intentionally influence (or attempt to influence) the outcome of any Game, Match, or Tournament
(viii) Communication of any content that could be considered offensive, including material that is illegal, insulting, injurious, threatening, abusive, vulgar, obscene, sexual, racist or defamatory, whether it be on grounds of race, political or religious opinions or sexual orientation; in general anything that is unethical or unsportsmanlike or punishable by law or a relevant rule
(ix) The public sharing of private and confidential communication between the Organizer and players
(x) Intentional disconnection during a game
(xi) Publication of marketing or promotional content
(xii) Publication of content that could harm the reputation or image of the Organizer or of a third party
(xiii) Smoking cigarettes or consuming alcohol beverages in the place where the Tournament takes place
(xiv) Unauthorized use or possession of prescription drugs by a Player is prohibited. Prescription drugs may be used only by the person to whom they are prescribed and, in the manner, combination and quantity as prescribed. Prescription drugs may only be used to treat the condition for which they are prescribed and may not be used to enhance performance in a Tournament Game
(xv) Consume or ingest any substance prohibited under applicable law
(xvi) Creation of a false identity or impersonation of a third party
(xvii) Direct or indirect offers, promises, donations, gifts or any other kind of benefit to an Organizer with the aim of gaining an advantage during the Tournament
(xviii) Accepting any gift, reward, bribe, or compensation for services promised, rendered, or to be rendered in connection with unfair play of Rocket League (e.g., services designed to throw or fix a Match or Game)
(xix) Publication of the personal information of other players (such as names, addresses, telephone numbers, etc.) in a public space, whether it be on social media, a website, or any other channel
(xx) Deliberate use or exploitation of a bug in the video game to gain an unfair advantage, whether or not it is specifically mentioned in the Official Rulebook
(xxi) Intentionally exploiting any game function (e.g., an in-game bug or glitch) in a manner not intended by Psyonix in order to gain a competitive advantage.
(xxii) Fraudulently accessing or maintaining access to all or any part of the automated data processing systems
(xxiii) Cheating of any sort through any means, whether currently known or unknown, which may include, without limitation, use of external software that directly tampers with the game software to gain any kind of advantage or to create a disadvantage to other players in the game, MOD and tampering game software by the use of a tampering patch
(xxiv) Using any kind of cheating device, program, or similar cheating method to gain a competitive advantage
(xxv) Interference with any infrastructure of the Tournament, including gaming equipment/hardware, game servers (including the misuse or hacking of game servers) or facilities provided for the tournament
(xxvi) Hacking or otherwise modifying the intended behaviour of the Rocket League game client
(xxvii) Intentionally delaying, slowing or manipulating gameplay
(xxviii) Tampering with or obstruction of an automated data system, whether it relates to the video game or a service
(xxix) Using distributed denial of service attacks, swatting, or similar methods to interfere with another Player’s connection to the Rocket League game client.
(xxx) Intentionally interrupting network connectivity
(xxxi) Refusal to respect the health and safety protocols outlined by the Organizer for the duration of the event
(xxxii) Transmission or aiding in the transmission of technological viruses, corrupted data or any other method intended to hinder the proper functioning of an automated data system
(xxxiii) Disclose confidential information related to the Tournament or private correspondence between the Player and the Organizer
(xxxiv) Failure to notify the Organizer of the existence of a bug or a fault that could allow someone to gain an unfair advantage during a match
(xxxv) Not doing one's best effort to advance as far as possible in the Tournament (e.g.: winning matches, strategy to qualify)
(xxxvi) Conducting in a manner that is clearly abusive or detrimental to the Tournament
(xxxvii) Betting or establishing a system for illicit betting on the Tournament
(xxxviii) Manipulation of the ranking of the Tournament
(xxxix) Using macro keys or similar methods to automate in-game actions
(xl) Disconnecting from the in-game lobby before being dismissed by Tournament Administrators
(xli) Changing in-game Player or username to a name other than Player’s registered user name
(xlii) Playing or allowing another Player to play on a Tournament account registered in another person’s name (or soliciting, encouraging, or directing someone else to do so)
(xliii) Intentionally disconnecting from a Match without a legitimate reason for doing so
(xliv) Engaging in any activity that is illegal in the jurisdiction where the affected Player is located
(xlv) Making any modification to Rocket League that has not been disclosed to and authorized by the Tournament Administrators
(xlvi) Using any Tournament facilities, services, or equipment provided or made available by the Tournament Entities to post, transmit, disseminate, or otherwise make available any communications prohibited by the Code of Conduct
(xlvii) Otherwise violating these Rules The behaviours listed, along with any other harmful behaviour, whether committed intentionally or unintentionally or simply attempted, are punishable by a sanction in the manner defined in the Official Rulebook.
Any person who, through help or assistance, facilitates the preparation or commission of the infringement may also be subject to a disciplinary sanction. Players and any other third-party can inform the Organizer of any harmful behaviour or content relating to the Tournament.
10.2 Wagering
Players shall not (a) conduct or promote betting, wagering, or gambling on the Tournament or any portion thereof, or (b) benefit, either directly or indirectly, from betting, wagering, or gambling on the Tournament or any portion thereof.10.3 Harassment
Players are prohibited from engaging in any form of harassing, abusive, or discriminatory conduct based on race, colour, ethnicity, national origin, religion, political opinion or any other opinion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other status or characteristic protected under applicable law. Any Player who witnesses or is subjected to harassing, abusive, or discriminatory conduct should notify a Tournament Administrator. All complaints reported pursuant to this paragraph will be promptly investigated and appropriate action will be taken. Retaliation against any player who brings forward a complaint or cooperates in the investigation of a complaint is prohibited.10.4 Confidentiality
A Player may not disclose to any third party any confidential information provided by the Tournament Administrators, the Organizer and Psyonix, or their parent or affiliates concerning Rocket League, the tournament, the Organizer and Psyonix, or their parent or affiliates, by any method of communication, including by posting on social media channels.11. APPLICABLE DISCIPLINARY SANCTIONS
11.1 Investigation and Compliance
Players agree to fully cooperate with the Organizer and/or a Tournament Administrator (as applicable) in the investigation of possible violations of the Official Rulebook. If the Organizer and/or a Tournament Administrator contacts a Player to discuss the investigation, the Player must be truthful in the information that they provide to the Organizer and/or a Tournament Administrator. Any Player found to have withheld, destroyed, or tampered with any related information, or otherwise found to have misled the Organizer and/or a Tournament Administrator during an investigation, will be subject to disciplinary sanctions action as further described.Players understand and agree that the Organizer has the right, in its sole discretion, to remove a Player from, or restrict such Player’s participation in, any Tournament event they organize as part of any investigation conducted by the Organizer and/or a Tournament Administrator (as applicable).
11.2 Disciplinary Sanctions If a Player violates the Official Rulebook, in particular the code of conduct, the Organizer reserves the right to sanction the offending player in accordance with the seriousness of the infraction committed.
The Organizer may inflict to a player with the following sanctions depending on the degree, severity and repetition of the violation, in the order of severity as follows:
(i) Verbal or Written Warning(s)
(ii) Game Forfeiture(s)
(iii) Match Forfeiture
(iv) Suspension from Tournament
(v) Disqualification from Tournament
(vi) Fine(s) and/or Endowments Forfeiture(s)
(vii) Banishment to future tournament(s)
The Organizer may combine any sanctions listed above. In addition to these disciplinary penalties, the Organizer reserves the right to take legal actions, both civil and/or criminal, against any person who has or who has attempted to interfere with the smooth running of the Tournament, in particular by participating in a case of cheating, fraud, or damage to an automated data processing system, whether or not he/she has participated in the Tournament.
12. SPONSORS AND RESTRICTIONS
The Organizer authorizes the display of physical advertising from the team’s partners or sponsors, but any other way of visibility for brand promotion is prohibited throughout the duration of the Tournament. Teams commit to not hide all or part of Organizer advertising. Teams commit to not wearing any symbols or clothing that is ostentatious, contrary to good morals, or illegal. During the Tournament, Players shall not display, advertise, or otherwise promote in any manner sponsorship, endorsement or other commercial affiliation with any sponsor engaged in the business of:(i) Drugs or drug paraphernalia
(ii) Tobacco or tobacco related products, including vaping products
(iii) Alcohol;
(iv) Firearms;
(v) Pornography or any other adult-only materials;
(vi) Automotive companies;
(vii) Cryptocurrencies, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), or any other blockchain-related product or service;
(viii) Any business (i) whose content is discriminatory, harassing, or otherwise hateful in nature, or (ii) whose practices are detrimental to the image of, or results in public criticism of or reflects badly on, Psyonix (as determined by Psyonix);
(ix) Any business that encourages illegal activities or violates applicable law;
(x) Gambling products (including fantasy sports betting), lotteries or illegal wagering;
(xi) Any business that promotes (i) the use of in-game hacks, cheating, exploits, or in-game currency farming or selling, or (ii) the sale, rental, licensing, distribution, or transfer of a game account;
(xii) Political candidates; or
(xiii) High toll phone services
(xiv) Any illegal product or service in Swiss territory
13. IN-PERSON MATCHES
13.1 Access Badge
For in-person matches, requiring the physical presence of Players, each Player commits to presenting themselves at the reception area of the venue where the Tournament takes place, equipped with a valid identification document, and to collect their access badge on the date specified by the Organizer. The Player agrees to wear their access badge at all times. The Player is informed that this badge cannot be replaced. The Organizer disclaims any responsibility in case of loss or theft of the badge. Reselling or transferring the badge is strictly prohibited and may lead to legal action.13.2 Equipment Supplied by the Organizer
In the case of matches played during an in-person event, the Organizer may temporarily provide Players with furniture and various computer equipment and materials, including but not limited to computer tablets, screens, computer peripherals, etc. The Player remains responsible for the equipment provided to them and commits to using it in a peaceful manner, avoiding any improper use that may cause direct or indirect damage.For matches played on certain stages designated by the Organizer, the Player may be required to use the peripherals and equipment designated and provided by the Organizer. Refusal to use the peripherals and equipment designated by the Organizer may result in the disqualification of the Player. In case of technical incompatibility between the equipment provided by the Organizer and the Player’s peripherals, the Organizer will make its best efforts to assist the Player in installing, configuring, and using their peripherals, without delaying the start of the match. If the incompatibility persists, the Organizer may take any measures necessary to ensure the progress of the match and, if necessary, disqualify the Player.
13.3 Players’ Belongings
Players are informed that in-person matches, requiring their physical presence, take place in a highly frequented venue where the Organizer is not obligated to provide surveillance for the belongings of Players. Therefore, each Player remains responsible for their personal belongings at all times, and the Organizer disclaims any responsibility in case of loss, theft, or damage to any property belonging to Players.14. PRIVATE CORRESPONDENCE
During the Tournament, the Organizer may have reason to communicate privately with one or more players. Any messages intended exclusively for one or more specific persons will be considered as private correspondence.Private correspondence is protected as ‘secret’ and the recipients of the messages are not authorized to publicly reveal the content of these messages. Anyone who discloses private correspondence without authorization can be held civilly or criminally liable.
15. PERSONALITY RIGHTS
Players hereby grant to the Organizer, Psyonix LLC, their affiliates, parents, agents, employees, successors and assigns (collectively “Psyonix and the Organizer”), without further consideration, the irrevocable right to videotape, film, photograph and portray them and their actions and record their voice conversations and other sound effects they make (“Captured Content”), while they are at the Tournament, and to include their name (including username, avatar, gamertag or equivalent), image, likeness, and biography (“Name and Likeness”) into the Captured Content (collectively “Footage”). Players irrevocably grant to the Organizer and Psyonix and th Organizer the exclusive right, for fifty (50) years, to use their Name and Likeness as captured, modified or integrated into the Footage, in connection with the distribution, broadcast or display of the Footage, Tournament, Tournament play, or materials made therefrom (collectively “Materials”) or the distribution, advertising, promotion, or any commercial exploitation of the Materials, in whole or in part, throughout the world, in any and all media and/or languages. Players acknowledge they have no ownership or interest in the Materials, and if they do have any rights thereto, Players hereby waive and/or grant such rights to Psyonix and the Organizer. Further, Players recognize they have no right to inspect or approve the Materials.16. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The brands, logos, software, drawings, models, databases, online services and video game used during the Tournament are protected under intellectual and industrial property provisions and belong to the holders of the respective rights. Any reproduction of material or representation of rights is strictly forbidden.17. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
BY PARTICIPATING IN THIS TOURNAMENT, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PLAYERS AGREE TO RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS PSYONIX LLC, ITS LICENSORS, ITS AND THEIR PARENTS AND AFFILIATES, AND ITS AND THEIR EMPLOYEES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, AGENTS, CONTRACTORS, AND OTHER REPRESENTATIVES FROM ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, LOSSES, LIABILITIES, AND EXPENSES RELATED TO THE TOURNAMENT.Participation in the Tournament implies that players fully understand and accept the characteristics and technical limitations of electronic communication networks. The Player recognises that the online services are provided “as is”, without any guarantee, and that use of them is at his or her own risk and peril. The Organizer cannot guarantee that the services will not be interrupted, that they will be exempt from faults or that anomalies will be corrected; they will not be held responsible for any partial or complete interruption of certain services used during the Tournament.
The Organizer encourages users to install up-to-date security software, including antivirus and anti-malware tools, and to take all necessary measures to protect their data from potential cyberattacks. The Organizer cannot be held responsible for direct or indirect damages resulting from the use of the services or the game used as the basis for the Tournament, or from harmful or damaging behaviour attributable to a Player or a third party.
Any direct or indirect damage inflicted upon the Player or third parties during the Tournament is neither the responsibility of the Organizer nor of its commercial or media partners, unless a serious fault is found with regards to safety requirements.
The responsibility of the Organizer is strictly limited to the organization of the Tournament and the provision of information necessary for participation.
The Organizer informs Players about the risks associated with intensive video game playing (addiction, isolation, dependency, etc.), and in this regard, the Organizer disclaims any responsibility for direct or indirect damage resulting from such practice. Epilepsy warnings: some people may experience epileptic seizures or have momentary loss of consciousness when viewing certain kinds of flashing lights or patterns that are commonly present in daily environments. These persons may need to take special precautions before using the Video Game. In the event you have experienced symptoms linked to an epileptic condition (e.g.: loss of awareness or a seizure), immediately consult your doctor before using any video games.
18. PERSONAL DATA
THE INFORMATION PLAYERS PROVIDE IN CONNECTION WITH THIS TOURNAMENT IS BEING PROVIDED TO HOST AND NOT TO PSYONIX LLC.18.1 Data Collected
During registration for the Tournament, the Organizer collects personal data about Players, which may include information about their identity (e.g.: first and last name, date of birth, address, passport, etc.), and, possibly, with regard to the game (game account, username, ranking, etc.), which Players certify is complete, accurate and relevant. This data is strictly necessary for the organization of the Tournament and its media coverage (notably the sharing of players’ results on the Internet by means of their usernames).Any registration for the Tournament with incomplete or inaccurate data may lead to the cancellation of the registration and even the imposition of a disciplinary sanction, to be determined at the sole discretion of the Organizer.
18.2 Reasons for processing the collected data
The data collected by the Organizer is used to ensure that the Tournament runs smoothly: to verify the conditions of eligibility and more generally for the administrative and technical management of the Tournament.In addition, data collected by the Organizer is used to share the performance of players on the Internet, on social media and with certain media outlets, for publication anywhere in the world. The data collected by the Organizer can also be used by the Organizer for statistical purposes and for the establishment of player rankings based on their performance over the course of multiple tournaments.
Finally, the data collected is used by the Organizer to create and maintain a file regarding any disciplinary sanctions inflicted on players.
This processing is necessary for the legitimate interests of the Organizer in order to ensure the smooth running of the Tournament and to take any measures necessary to address behavior that contravenes the Official Rulebook.
18.3 Conservation of data collected
The data collected is stored by the Organizer for a period of one (1) year starting from the end of the Tournament for which the player was registered or from his or her last participation in a tournament organized by the Organizer. The data can be stored for a longer period corresponding to the period during which a disciplinary sanction may be applied. The data corresponding to the conservation of disciplinary sanctions is stored for a year after the end or removal of a given sanction.In addition, the Organizer reserves the right to store players’ nicknames used during the Tournament for a period of fifty (50) years in order to preserve the integrity of these results for historical and archival purposes.
Any players who wish to oppose the conservation of their username can request the deletion of their username by the Organizer at any time.
18.4 Recipients of data
Data will be shared with the services used by the Organizer for the organization of the Tournament. The player is also informed that the data collected during the Tournament may be shared with technical subcontractors to fulfill the aforementioned processing purposes, especially for the logistical organization of the Tournament and to ensure its proper media exposure, or to fulfill legal and regulatory obligations.In the event that data is likely to be transferred to a subcontractor, the Organizer guarantees that necessary precautions have been taken to ensure that the subcontractor commits to processing the data in accordance with the Organizer's instructions and that appropriate security measures have been taken.
